Here I paint my version of water lilies reflecting on water. Obviously the world’s most famous Water Lilies is the series of approximately 250 oil paintings created by French Impressionist Claude Monet, the most iconic images of Impressionism. Monet planted the water lilies before he painted them. The paintings depict his flower garden, where Monet actually organized his property at Giverny, France as though it were a huge painting. (I did not do that!)

Later in life, Monet was commissioned to paint 12 monumental water lily paintings that eventually hung in the Orangerie in the Tuileries on the grounds of the Louvre.

Monet’s Water Lilies opened the path to abstract painting. Monet and his contemporaries broke down barriers and worked hard to achieve today’s greater freedom of expression that is now taken for granted. Thank you Claude!!!
